Michael J. Sacco, 90 of Shrewsbury, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in The Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence surrounded by his devoted family. Michael's wife of sixty-four years, Josephine M. (Stuczko) Sacco passed away on July 11, 2007. He is survived by his son, Michael G. Sacco, Sr. and his wife Susan of Chesterfield, VA; a daughter, Patricia Renzoni and her husband Ray of Berlin,MA; three sisters, Mary A. Dorsey of West Boylston, Nellie M. Dee of Shrewsbury and Carolyn P. Spiewak of Charlton; six grandchildren, Robin Renzoni-Sweetapple, Karen Galligan, Michael G. Sacco, Jr., Jeffrey K. Harr, Jamie Paul Sacco and Melinda Dawn Flores; seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth Desimone, Madeline Harrington and Louise Hassett. Michael was born in Worcester, son of the late Gaetano and Maria C. (Verile) Sacco. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and later received his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. He moved to Shrewsbury where he has lived for the past sixty-two years. Michael also served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as an electrical engineer in the bio-medical field at Army Natick Laboratory for 43 years retiring in the 1970's. Michael was a member of St. Anne's Church where he was involved in the Church's Men's Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Director of Military Auxiliary Radio System for many years, Boy Scout Leader and on the new Shrewsbury High School Building Committee. He loved working in his garden and was very interested in botany. The family would like to express how thankful they are to Care With a Heart, Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, Holy Trinity Hospice, and all his doctors and nurses of UMASS Memorial for the outstanding care and compassion given to Michael and them during his time of need. Services for Michael will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 12 noon in St. Anne's Church, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the funeral mass.
