Honorable Judge Louis C. Gallo,86, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday July 27, 2011 after a short illness. Louis is survived by his devoted and beloved fianceé Kathy Magnotta of Everett, two beloved brothers Albert Gallo and his wife Ellie and their children; David, Albert, and Stephen, brother Domenic and his wife Connie and their children Nicky and his wife and children of Florida, and Tina of Worcester, also surviving Louis is an uncle Anthony Quatela of Worcester .He was the uncle of Fr. David Gallo. He was predeceased by a brother Carmine Gallo. Louis was born in Worcester son of the late Domenic and Italia (Quatela) Gallo and lived in Worcester most of his life. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, Clark University, and received his Law Degree from New England School of Law. He also studied Theology at Harvard University. Louis served in the United States Navy . He was a decorated veteran and served in the Battle of the Bulge,The Invasion of Normandy. He also served as a Pharmacist's mate. Louis was a retired Judge for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents for many years before he retired. He was offered an appointment to the Federal bench by Presidents Reagan and Bush. Louis enjoyed traveling and summering in New Hampshire for many years. He enjoyed talking to young people and helping them whenever he could. He was an avid reader. Louis was very active in Worcester politics and had many friends who cared deeply about him especially Francis Sena who was a loyal and faithful friend through the years. Also a thank you to Marie Abbruzzio and her family for their kindness and loving support. Louis was a former member of St Margaret Mary Church.He was a member of the American Legion Post #201 East Side, and the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Whidden Hospital in Everett for their utmost devotion and care of Louis and also the Doctors and Staff of the Lighthouse Nursing and Rehab Center for their loving and professional care and last but not least the Nurses and Therapists that assisted Louis at home they are great people. Louis's funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. a period of calling hours will be held from 9:00AM to 11:30AM. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt Carmel St Ann Church Restoration Fund 24 Mulberry Street Worcester, MA. 01605. Or a charity of choice.
