Herbert Frank Rothschild, age 84, long time resident of Worcester Massachusetts passed away on July 16th in Worcester after a short illness. Herbert was born in 1926 in Schlustern Germany, he was the son of Lydia (Frank) and David Rothschild, and was the brother of the late Henry Rothschild. Leaving his birthplace during the rise of Nazi Germany in 1938, Herbert embraced the opportunity of life in the United States, joining the U.S. Army and becoming a sergeant; Upon his release from active duty, Herbert along with his father and brother founded Empire Mattress Co. which they built into a successful business, Empire Furniture Warehouse. His was married for over 50 years to the late, Janice Fay (Wolin) Rothschild who passed away in August of 2006. Together they had 3 children; Steven Rothschild and his wife, Julia of Worcester, Heidie Rothschild of Alexandria Virginia and Elizabeth Klein and her husband Alan of North Reading; four grand children, Joshua, Jeffery, Sarah, and David. Neices, nephews and a host of friends. Hebert was a member of the Worcester Auxiliary Police. A Freemason and member of Level Lodge, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and long time member of Temple Emmanuel and Temple Sinai; Herbert had a passion for his dogs, trailering and reading.
