Dominic J. DiBaro, Sr., of Worcester, passed away June 28th 2011, at Holy Trinity with his family by his side. Dominic is survived by his wife and partner of 65 years Grace A. (DiLeo) DiBaro; three devoted children, Diane Morrone and her husband Frank, Ronald J. DiBaro and his wife Carolyn, and Gina DiBaro all of Worcester; nine brothers and sisters, Margaret Campbell, Michaelina Xanders, Antoinette Entwistle, Jean Walker, Joyce McLeod, Donna Cote, Dolly Oterguard Francis DiBaro and Michael DiBaro; five grandchildren, Marc, and his wife Deb, Matthew and his wife Chrissy and Craig Morrone Tracy DiBaro and Tanya DiBaro ; a great granddaughter, Milla Morrone ; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. A son, Dominic J. DiBaro Jr. passed in 2000. Dominic was born in Worcester, the oldest son of ten children born to Michael and Mary (DiStefano) DiBaro. He enlisted in 1942, in the United States Army to serve his country during World War II. Dominic served as a Sergeant in the motor pool. He also served on the engineering section. His crew built the Bailey Bridge. Which was considered by General Eisenhower as one of the most important developments of the War. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army. Dominic worked with his father and brother Francis as Masonry. In 1963 he graduated from the 33rd Local Police Officers Class at the Department of Public Safety Division of the State Police. He was a State Building Inspector for the Department of Public Safety for the Commonwealth Of Massachusetts, retiring in 1992. Dominic served as a Boxing Commissioner for the Commonwealth. His most memorable weigh in was Sugar Ray Leonard who fought at the Worcester Centrum in the 1980's. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Disney world, was an avid golfer and enjoyed his golf trips to Myrtle Beach. He loved listening to Italian music and working in his yard. Dominic enjoyed travel through Europe and took several cruises with his wife. He was a member of the Pope John Council, Knights of Columbus, the Greendale retired men's club and Our Lady of Loreto church. Dominic was a loving Husband, father, grandfather and brother. He cherished his large family, enjoyed all the times he could spend at family gatherings and functions. He will be greatly missed. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, June 30th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Friday, July 1st from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady or Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. The DiBaro family would like to thank the Staff of Holy Trinity Nursing home for the exceptional care, compassion and understanding for Our Father.
