Mariano Conte

Mariano Conte, 91, of Acri, province of Cosenza Italy passed away May 10th 2011 in Italy. Mariano was born April 5, 1920 a son of Nicola and Rachela (Guagliardi) Conte, the 7th son of eight brothers and two sisters, most of whom pre deceased him. He has lived a big part of his life and enjoyed being a farmer in Italy. Mariano's first wife Carmela (Spina) Conte passed away September 11th 1966. He is survived by his second wife Nunziata (Garofalo) Conte; four sons, Anthony "Tony" Conte and his wife Domenica Arcuri of Auburn, Luciano Conte and his wife Teresa Pisu in Torino, Italy, Nicola Conte and his wife Mara Serpa in Arci, Italy, Salvatore Conte and his wife Angela Cofone in Corigliano Scalo, Italy; a brother, Domenico Conte of Worcester. Seven grandchildren, Jessica (Conte) Falcone and her husband Emauele of Worcester, Laura, Antonella and Serena; Mariano, Andrea and Christian; a great grandson Alessio Antonio Falcone; Many more nieces, nephews and extended family in the US and Italy. A sister in law Rosina (Marchese) Conte of Worcester pre deceased him. Mariano worked for the Italy Government Department of Forestry. He also worked in Africa, Germany and mostly in the Northern parts of Italy, before retiring to his farm. During World War II, Mariano served in the Italian Army A memorial Mass will be celebrated This Sunday, June 26th 2011 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial was in Italy. There are no calling hours. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
