Mary B. (Santora) Gentile, 88, of Worcester, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family to join her cherished son Mark in heaven Thursday, June 9th 2011. Mary was born December 9, 1922 in Worcester, one of four children born to Marco and Filomena (Grande) Santora. She graduated from Commerce High, met and married her husband and partner of the past 65 years, Vincent Gentile, Sr. Besides her husband Vincent Sr.; She is survived by two sons, Edward Gentile of Dennisport, Vincent Gentile Jr. and his wife, whom she considered a daughter, Caryn of Worcester; a brother Nicholas M. Santora of Worcester; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Vincent, Christopher and Tara; Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A son, Mark Gentile passed away in January of 2000. A brother Pasquale "Pat" Santora and a sister, Julia R. Aiello also pre deceased her. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. She loved to cook and play bingo. Among her family and friends, Mary was known for her special pizza and Italian Cookies. Most of all Mary cherished her husband, sons, daughter in law and grandchildren. She could always be seen with a big smile anytime she was with her family and friends; they were special to her and she will be greatly missed. Mary's funeral will be celebrated Monday, June 13th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Sunday, June 12th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church restoration fund, 24 Mulberry St. The family of Mary Gentile would like to thank the Family Tree Home Care, especially her care giver Gifty and the Jewish Home Hospice, Robin, Suzanne, Jessica and Ann Marie.
