James F. Brodin, Sr., 66 of First Street passed away Thursday, June 9th 2011 in his home after a long period of declining health. James is survived by three sons, James Brodin, Jr. and his wife Helen of Holden, Mark Brodin and his companion Michele Scricco of Worcester, Derek Brodin and his wife Karen of East Boston; Three daughters, Kimberly Catalina, Kristin Brodin, Kerri Boyd and her husband John all of Worcester; his former wife Gail (Bean) Brodin whom remained loyal and a loving friend, and Kathy Harvey a long time friend; a sister, Nancy Brodin of Attleboro and a brother, Maurice Brodin Jr. of Aspen Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Carol Ann "Tootsie" Mazzaferro. He was born in Worcester, a son of Maurice Brodin, Sr. and Edna Mae (Sullivan) Brodin. He grew up in Shrewsbury, moved to Worcester and was proud to call Worcester his home. Jmaes worked as Parts Manager for the UPS Corporation in Shrewsbury many years before retiring due to illness. He previously worked as warranty inspector for Ford Motor Corporation. James adored his family; his fourteen grandchildren were his pride and life's joy. He most enjoyed the time he spent watching his grandchildren play sports throughout the year. He was also a great fan of New England Professional sports and enjoyed watching a good sports game on Television. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Sunday, June 12th from 12 noon to 2 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home.
