Mary M Grosso

Mary M. (Pino) Grosso, 86, of Shrewsbury, passed away, Tuesday June 7, 2011, just 6 weeks after her husband who cherished her for 63 years, Louis J. Grosso, passed away on April 26th. Mary was born in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of Rosario and Angelina (Torre) Pino. She grew up in Providence, met and married her husband Louis J. Grosso and moved to Worcester in 1948. Together, they moved to Shrewsbury in 1953 to raise their family, residing there for 58 years. Mary is survived by her son and daughter in law, James and Judith Grosso of Boston; three grandchildren, Jennifer Grosso, Carol Bowen and her husband Cory, and Thomas Grosso; a great granddaughter Grace Bowen; a brother, Sebastiano "Ben" Pino of Cranston, RI; nieces, nephews and extended family. A son, Thomas J. Grosso, passed away in 1985. She also was predeceased by a brother, Patrick Pino and a sister, Anna Genereaux. Mary worked over 20 years at the Towne Pharmacy in Shrewsbury before retiring. She was a member of St. Anne's Church where she taught CCD, was a member of the Choir and the Women's League. She cherished the times she could spend with her husband, her two sons and especially her grandchildren whom she adored. They gave her great happiness. The funeral will be held Monday, June 13th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, June 12th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the Funeral Home.
