Louise T. (Bisceglia) Desto, 89, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Shrewsbury Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Her loving husband of forty-six years, Joseph B. Desto, predeceased her in November 1984. Louise is survived by a daughter, Theresa M. Manna of Shrewsbury; two sons, Joseph B. Desto, Jr. and his wife Patti of Worcester and Robert Desto and is wife Jean of Holden; a brother, Morris Bisceglia and his wife Patricia of Worcester; two sisters, Mary Charamella of Shrewsbury and Marion Tricome of Worcester; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Sylvester and George Bisceglia, Angelina Esposito and Ann Rana. Louise was born in Shrewsbury, daughter of Nicholas and Mary (DeSalvio) Bisceglia and lived in Worcester most of her life. She worked for many years at the former Doctors Hospital in Worcester, retiring as a supervisor. She was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church. She was also a member of Our Lady of Loreto's Women's Guild and the Saint Margaret Mary Women's Guild. She was a member and Past President of the Catholic Daughters and was active in the former Bloomingdale School Parents Association. She was a champion bowler. She loved to cook and found great joy when surrounding herself with her family at her table, where she fed them with good food and tremendous love. The Desto family would like to thank all of the nurses, assistants and staff at Shrewsbury Nursing Home as well as the nurses from UMass-Memorial Hospice. They are appreciate all of the loving and caring treatment shown to Louise during her stay. The Funeral for Louise will be held Monday, June 6, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 5, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
