Arthur P. Carilo, Sr., 88, a longtime resident of Worcester, died peacefully Thursday, May 26, 2011 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center. His wife of 50 years, Rosalie (Johnson) Carilo predeceased him on June 25, 1995. He leaves his son, Arthur P. Carilo, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Worcester; two cherished grandchildren, Paul and his companion, Robin Richardson of Spencer, and Jennifer of Worcester. Arthur was born in Worcester, a son of the late Rachel (Ciccone) and Liberato Carilo. He is predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Albert Carilo. He was a graduate of Commerce High School. Arthur was a leather cutter at Burgess Leather. He also worked for Worcester Envelope and Servomation Company before retiring in 1988. After retiring, Arthur worked many years as a part-time custodian for St. Christopher's Church where he was a founding member. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and St. Christopher's Retired Men's Club. Arthur enjoyed working Bingo at St. Christopher's Church, visiting Foxwoods Casino, and going to the movies with his many friends. Calling hours for Arthur will be held, Monday, May 30th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 31st from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester, MA.
