Henry E. "Hank" Moran, 87, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Henry was born in Burlington Vermont, March 9, 1924 to the late Henry E. McCuen Sr. and Clara (Morris) McCuen. He was later adopted by the late John E. Moran and Lena (Morris) Moran. After graduating from Cathedral High School in Burlington, Henry served as a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division's, 5th Mobile Radar Squadron, as an Intercept operator during World War II. Upon leaving the military, Henry made his way to Worcester where he met his beloved late wife of 49 years, Marguerite I. (Egnatosky) Moran and worked for 37 years as a painter for the Worcester Housing Authority before retiring in 1991. Henry leaves behind a son, Craig E. Moran; three daughters, Hope E. (Moran) Favreault and her husband Edward T., Dawn M. (Moran) Sobiech and Renee' F. (Moran) Remington; a grandson, Joseph E. Azzarone whom he raised, in addition to thirteen other grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Henry was predeceased by his two daughters, Denise C. (Moran) Azzarone and Michele M. Moran, a sister, Mary U. Moran and a grandson, Brian M. Favreault. Henry was a member and past president of the Worcester Painters Union Local #48 and a member of the China Burma India Veterans Association. Hank was also a member of Saint Joan of Arc Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family. Henry's funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 1st from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a 10:00 a.m. Mass in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, May 31st from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
