Anthony M. Annunziata, 79, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 7th 2011 with his family by his side. Anthony was born September 29, 1931, in Worcester, a son of Silvio and Theresa (Ria) Annunziata. He grew up in Shrewsbury, graduated from Shrewsbury high School, and joined the U.S. Army to serve his country during the Korean War effort. Upon returning to Worcester he attended various institutions of higher learning including Saltus Business and Assumption College earning accreditation in various subject fields. He has lived in Worcester most of his life. Anthony worked in information technology more than 35 years. The last 15 years for the City of Worcester and previously 10 years for the U.S. Government , U.S. Navy department. He also taught Information Technology part time for several area colleges. Anthony is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 55 years, Nancy C. (LeBreton) Annunziata; his cherished family, Michael A. Annunziata, his wife MaryAnne and their children, Chiara Ramos, Angela, Michaela and Johanna, Richard S. Annunziata, his wife Sandra and their children, Matthew, David, John and Elizabeth, and his third son, Thomas J. Annunziata; Anthony also leaves behind, three great grandchildren whom he cherished, Julia, Sophia, and his namesake Anthony Michael; A brother, Silvio Annunziata of Holden; two sisters, Camille Trolla in Ft Collins, Colorado, and Josephine Bernath in Thousand Oaks, California; A loving brother in law, Leo LeBreton in Lawrence South Carolina; his special companion and friend "Tootie" ; many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. Anthony was actively involved in politics, most of his life; He was former Republican City Committee Chairman and area campaign chairman for many National, State and Local candidates. He was a family man, who cherished the simple things in life, especially his family. They provided him with extreme joy and satisfaction. The times he could share with them were the most special times in his life. Anthony enjoyed gardening and found enjoyment beyond his family in planting, nurturing and growing tomatoes. Anthony's funeral will be held Thursday, May 12th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday May 11th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
