Rita E. Giusto

Rita E. (Houde) Giusto, 89 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2011 in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. Rita's husband of forty eight years, James E. Giusto passed away August 27, 1994. She is survived by her loving companion, Lawrence Butterfoss; a sister-in-law, Ann Houde; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Edward J. Giusto who passed away in 1973; two brothers, Robert and Arthur Houde; two sisters, Anna Mae Bourget and Lorraine Bouthiette. Rita was born in North Grafton, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen (Atchue) Houde. She worked as a secretary for local area companies. She was a devoted catholic member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Rita led a full life, gardening, arts and crafts, cooking, making food for people whom were sick and in need of care. She also enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights with her friend's. She was a very loving, caring woman and will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Notre Dame Hospice, the staff at Harmony Village and both Notre Dame du Lac and Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. Your care and attention to Rita made her final days meaningful. Services for Rita will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. Philips Cemetery, Grafton. A period of calling hours will be held Monday, May 9th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: Notre Dame Hospice, 554 Plantation St., Worcester or to Notre Dame du Lac Chapel Window Fund, 555 Plantation St., Worcester.
