Ralph L. "Muzzy" D'Ascanio Jr. died peacefully May 2, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Ethel D. (Giddings) D'Ascanio,, two sons, Ralph L. D'Ascanio lll and his wife Lorry of Auburn, David P. D'Ascanio and his wife Cheryl of Brookfield, a daughter Annette R. D'Ascanio of Worcester, two grandchildren Samantha and Anthony, one brother Angelo D'Ascanio, and a sister Catalda "Tal" Roy of Sterling, and many nephews and nieces. Muzzy was predeceased by two brothers Michael and Anthony D'Ascanio, and his twin sister Catherine Mulvey. Muzzy was born in Worcester son of the late Ralph Sr. and Catherine (Lentini) D'Ascanio and lived here all his life He was a United States Army veteran and served in Germany. Muzzy was a heavy equipment operator for 44 years for the Local #4 Operating Engineers Union. After his retirement he owned and operated along with his grandson Anthony, Muzzy's Small Engine Repair Shop which Anthony continues to operate. Muzzy loved being with his family and friends, especially cookouts at Annette's home, with Samantha burning his ear off! He enjoyed sitting out front at the Gas station with his brothers on Grafton St. talking to their many friends they made through the years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Ralph's funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday (tonight.) Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
