Vincent Mercadante

Vincent "Jimmy" Mercadante, 94, of Gilford, NH formerly of West Boylston passed away Wednesday April 27th 2011 with family by his side. Vinny was born, March 28th 1917, in Worcester, a son of Rocco and Maria (Mercadante) Mercadante. He grew up in Worcester, graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and lived in Shrewsbury, West Boylston Ft Myers Florida and maintained a residence more than 50 years in Lake Shore Park in Gilford, NH at Lake "Winnipesauke" spending summers and winters vacationing there before becoming a permanent resident after retirement. Vinnie's wife of 69 years, Isabel M. (Brousseau) Mercadante, passed away in 2009. He is survived by his three devoted children, Paul Mercadante and his wife Sheila, Rocco Mercadante and his wife Roberta all in South Carolina, Jane Lindberg and her husband Richard of West Boylston; ten grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Two brothers, Querino and Victor Mercadante and a sister, Anna Zenaro all pre deceased him. Vinny worked over 37 years for Norton Company retiring as lathe Department Supervisor. Following his Norton Career, he worked more than 20 years in the Construction trades as a supervisor, finish carpenter and independent home improvement contractor. He had many interests in his life including snowmobiling in the winter, golfing, boating and camping in the summers. His wife and family were his inspiration; he most enjoyed spending time with them especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 4th at 12 Noon in Mt Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St Framingham Ma 01701.
