Louis J Grosso

Louis J. Grosso, 91, formerly of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Tuesday April 26, 2011 after a period of declining health. Lou was born in Worcester, a son of Francesco and Rose (Bellino) Grosso. He grew up in Worcester graduated from Commerce High School, joining the U.S. Army Air Corps to serve his country during World War II as an Airplane Mechanic. Returning to Worcester, Louis met and married his wife of 63 years Mary M. (Pino) Grosso. Together they moved to Shrewsbury, residing there for 58 years. Lou is survived by his wife Mary (Pino) Grosso; a devoted son and daughter in law, James and Judith Grosso of Boston; three grandchildren he adored, Jennifer, Grosso, Carol Bowen and her husband Cory, and Thomas Grosso; a great granddaughter Grace Bowen; two sisters, Nancy Estaphan of Worcester and Jean MacConnell of Newport New Hampshire; Nieces, nephews and extended family. A son, Thomas J. Grosso passed away in 1985. Three brothers, Anthony P., Sebastiano "Sam" and John Grosso, all pre deceased him. Lou began his career in the Graphic Arts Industry, for the former J.S.Wesby Company at the age of 19 and retiring as General Manager at the age of 75, taking time only to serve during World War II in the Army Air Corp . He was a member of St Anne Church. The Ray Stone Post American Legion in Shrewsbury and the former UNICO Club. Lou was a simple man all his life, he most enjoyed the times he could spend with his wife and especially his two sons enjoying golf and most of all just being with them. His grandchildren gave him inspiration and joy. The funeral will be held Monday, May 2nd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 10:00 am in St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to Visit with the family Sunday, May 1st from 3 pm to 6 pm in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St, Watertown, Ma 02472.
