Robert F. Olson Sr. 83, of West Boylston, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Robert is survived by his wife of sixty years, Frances M. (Catanzaro) Olson; four children, Patricia F. Morrissey and her husband Kevin, Robert F. Olson, Jr., Francis X. Olson and his wife Kathleen and Regina F. Namin and her husband Reza; six grandsons, Matthew LeBoeuf, Brian and Thomas Morrissey, Peter Olson and Timothy and Christopher Olson; a granddaughter, Heather DeMars; his beloved dog, Miss J. Coopah. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan F. Olson. Robert was born in Worcester, the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Russell) Olson. He graduated from Commerce High School. He also graduated from Becker Junior College with his associate's degree in Accounting. Robert worked for The Heald Machine Company as a Senior Supervisor of inventory control for over thirty years before retiring. Robert served in the U.S. Army during WW11 as a Military Police Officer in the Phillipines. "Bob" was a long time member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church where he taught CCD. He was the first Eucharistic Minister installed in the Diocese of Worcester in1973, and has served the parish of Our Lady of Mt Carmel since with utmost devotion. Robert was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, The Sodality of Our Lady, The Disabled American Veterans, and the Greendale Retired Mens Club. "Bob" was also a past president of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and was a 40 year member of the Passionist Community. Robert enjoyed golf,and bowled on several leagues, he was also an excellent Fast Pitch Softball pitcher in his younger years on several industrial leagues. But his most precious times were those spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Robert's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 8:30AM to 10:30AM prior to leaving for Church. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
