Angelina M Olson

December 14, 1930 — April 23, 2011

Angelina "Lena" M. (DiLiddo) Olson, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis with her family by her side. Her loving husband, Charles "Oley" Olson, predeceased her in 1986. A native of Worcester, Lena fondly remembered working at Woolworth's downtown where she met her future husband, Charles "Oley" Olson and sister-in-law and friend, Beth. For the last 25 years, she lived on Cape Cod where loved working almost every day helping her daughter and son-in-law at Stage Stop Candy in Dennisport. To residents and tourists alike, she became a Cape institution as she doled out even more love and crazy humor than she did candy. Even as Alzheimer's took parts of her away, this humor and desire to make people happy always remained. It is for this that everyone will remember her. Previously a parishioner at St. Joan or Arc in Worcester, she joined the parish at Holy Trinity in Harwich where she attended mass regularly. Lena enjoyed activities like sewing and walking West Dennis Beach, but loved nothing more than doting on her family, especially her two great-grandchildren. In recent years, she was able to enjoy travel with her family to many places around Europe, including her parents' homeland of Italy. She is survived by her loving daughter Donna and son-in-law Raymond Hebert of Harwich; two grandchildren, Wendy Marshall of Plymouth and Dan Hebert of East Greenwich, RI; two loved and adored great-grandchildren, Jesse and Brooke Marshall; two brothers, Joseph Diliddo of Worcester and Vincent Diliddo of West Boylston; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Kirby of Shrewsbury; and two brothers, Tony and John Diliddo, both of Worcester. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Rosewood Manor in Harwich, MA where she received the absolute best care during her struggle with this disease and was seen as the special person she was. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 25, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street in Worcester, MA. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 26th from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street in Worcester with services at St. John's cemetery to follow. Any donations in Lena's memory may be made to Alzheimer's research (www.alzinfo.org/donate).
