Yvonne Shakour

Yvonne L. (LeClair) Shakour, 84, of Barre, formerly of Worcester died peacefully Thursday April 21, 2011 in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Her husband Richard Shakour died in 2005. Yvonne is survived by a daughter Patricia Carpenter of Barre, a sister Esther Troy of Worcester, two granddaughters Kayla and Kelsey, several nephews and nieces, and her feline friend Calico. Yvonne was predeceased by a daughter Katherine Vaughan, a brother Armand LeClair, and a sister Rita Schofield. Yvonne was born in Worcester daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Clouatre) LeClair and lived here most of her life before moving to Barre. She attended David Hale Fanning Worcester Girls Trade School, and enjoyed being a homemaker. She worked at the Washburn Company for many years, and was a home health aide for the Catholic Charities. Yvonne loved gardening especially her Rose gardens and she enjoyed all types of animals. Her most precious times though were with her family, especially her granddaughters Kayla and Kelsey. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Yvonne was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at St. Vincent Hospital especially Melissa, Brenda, and Melissa for their kindness and compassion shown to Yvonne and her family during her stay there. Yvonne's funeral will be held Friday April 29, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME &CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 1290 Grafton St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday.
