Mary Agnes (Gully) Tanona, 91 of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 peacefully in Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by her loving family. Mary's husband of fifty four years, Daniel F. Tanona, Jr. passed away on November 21, 1998. She is survived by three sons, Daniel F. Tanona, III and his wife Patricia of Wakefield, RI, John H. Tanona and his wife Susan of Worcester and Michael D. Tanona and his wife Karen of Plum Island, MA; a daughter, Mary Kulesza and her husband Stanley of Spencer; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers, William, Paul and Edward Gully. Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of the late John H. and Theresa (Monahan) Gully and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Ascension High School and Our Lady of the Elms College where she received her Bachelors. She worked for Worcester State Hospital as a social worker for 29 years before retiring in 1990. Mary was a long time member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Mary lived a very full, active and independent life up to the time of her death. Mary's funeral will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Liturgy of the Word Service at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22nd from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service.
