Robert C. Steele, 81, of Worcester passed away Saturday, April 16th 2011 in his home with family at his side. Robert was born in Purcellville, Virginia a son of Robert C. Steele, Sr. and Ruth E. (Jones) Steele. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Virginia, and earned his bachelor's degree in Business from Virginia Technical Institute. He entered the U.S.Marine Corps to serve his country during the Korean War and has lived in Massachusetts since 1960. Bobby is survived by his wife of the past 22 years Loretta M. (Brouillard) Cofske, Steele; six children, Robert C. Steele, III and his wife Felece of Germantown, MD, Worcester Police Captain Roger Steele and his wife Janet of Worcester, Julia Winthers and her husband Eric in Wyoming, Jennifer Steele in Braintree Ma, Theresa Worek and her husband Keith of Rochester, NY, Stephanie Allen of Westport Mass; two stepsons, Harvey Cofske and his wife Kathryn of Annapolis MD, Bruce Cofske of Springfield Vermont; a sister, Jacqueline DeLong in Virginia; 14 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. A sister, Jane Bowman pre deceased him. Robert worked more than 40 years as a sales representative for Millbury Motors and Harr Ford. After retirement he worked for Fallon Clinic as a courier. Robert was a member of the Greendale's Men's Club and its golf league. A past member of the Worcester Lions Club. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, April 18th 2011 from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 19th at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Network, 120 Thomas St 01608 or the Massachusetts Special Olympics, 512 Forest Street in Marlborough, MA. The family of Robert Steele wishes to thank the extremely dedicated professionals of St. Vincent's Hospital, Fallon Clinic, and especially the VNA Hospice, along with all the friends who helped prepare him for his final journey.
