Jennie A. (Hanzarak) Symonaick, 79, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of nearly fifty-five years, Chester S. Symonaick; their six children, Donald C. Symonick and his wife Carolyn of Bellingham, David M. Symonick of Worcester, Sharon L. Symonick and her husband Lloyd H. Christensen of Boulder, CO, Kathleen A. Vescera and her husband Gerald of Uxbridge; Linda M. Simmons and her husband Kelly of Auburn and Janet L. Raymond and her husband Timothy of Holland, MA. She also leaves a sister, Mary A. Miklusis of Worcester; twelve grandchildren, Lauren, Cory, Tyler, Kyle, Ian, Riley, Brooke, Alyssa, Shane, Hannah, Kasey and Evan; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters, Alexander, Russell, John and Walter Hanzarak, Gladys Dubsky, Helen Neslusan and Olga Guidaboni. Jennie was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Stella (Schlachtun) Hanzarak. She graduated from Commerce High School and has lived here all her life. Jennie worked as a claims adjuster for Harleysville Insurance Company for many years before retiring in 2001. She was also a talented cake decorator; demonstrating her artistry by making wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes. Jennie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She enjoyed knitting, trips to Mohegan Sun, Cape Cod and Bermuda; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Friends and relatives are invited to gather with Jennie's family for calling hours on Sunday, April 10, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 11, from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
