Richard J. LaViolette, 85, of Worcester and Yuba City California, passed away Tuesday March 29th in California with family at his side. Richard was born in Worcester a son of the late Ralph and Gertrude (Galipeau) LaViolette. He grew up in Worcester graduated from Worcester Public schools, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II and has lived in Worcester all his life and wintered in Yuba City. Richard worked more than 16 years in the Aerospace Industry for David Clark Company before retiring. His wife of 53 years Yolanda D. "Ollie" (Corvino) LaViolette passed away in 2000. He is survived by his two devoted daughters, Sharon Wilson and her husband James of Worcester, Linda Driscoll and her husband Arthur in Yuba City and Monterey California; three grandchildren he adored, Richard B. Wilson and his wife Tracy, Kimberly A. Wilson and her life partner Steve Perez, and Benjamin J. Wilson; two great grandchildren, Morgan and Stevie Jr; Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. two brothers, Gerard and Bernard "Bernie" LaViolette and three sisters, Irene Teller an, Anne and Carol LaViolette all pre deceased him. Richard was a member of St John's Church; He was an Avid Golfer who loved to play golf with Buddie's and friends in Worcester and especially "his boys" in California. In his golf days, Richard has played many Golf courses over the years. He was also a jokester who loved to laugh and tell stories. He had a smile whenever he entered a room. Family, friends and children would love to listen to his jokes and watch his magic tricks. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Sunday, April 3rd from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday, April 4th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in St John Church, 40 Temple St. Burial next to his wife will follow in St John Cemetery.
