Lucretia M. (Capurso) Stano, 83, of Worcester died peacefully Saturday March 26, 2011 in the Autumn Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. Lucretia was one of ten children of the late Raffaele and Anna (DeFeudis) Capurso. She was born on February 21, 1928. Lucretia graduated from Girls Trade High School, and later married Leonardo Stano on February 10, 1951. They were married for 56 years before his death in 2007. Lucretia is survived by three sons, Leonard Stano and his wife Debra and their daughter Jennifer Stano and her fiance' Ramon Alverez and their daughter Audriana Marie Alverez-Stano of Worcester,Frank Stano and his wife Diane of Millbury and their children Leela Foley and her husband Scott, and Jesse Haghanizadeh of Millbury,and Richard Stano and his wife Patricia and their daughter Amanda of Worcester with whom Lucretia lived with until her decline in health when she then moved to Autumn Village 17 months ago. Lucretia is also survived by two sisters Rose Cipro, and Lena Harvey and her husband William, three sisters in law, Irene Capurso, Angela Capurso, and Edith Iacarrino all of Worcester, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Nicholas, Domenic, Carlo, Joseph and Maurice Capurso, and also two sisters Mary Lamanuzzi and Lucy Mitchell. Lucretia was a life member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church, and its Golden Age Club, The S.S. Madonna Addorlorata Women Biscegliese Society (Our Lady of Sorrows), and also the American Legion Post # 201 East Side Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting, and made many beautiful gifts for her family and friends. Lucretia loved to travel and would always say her bags were always packed! She enjoyed a good day at Foxwoods or Mohegan on her many bus trips with her friends. Lucretia's family would like to thank the Staff at Autumn Village for their care and love for Lucretia, and also a thanks you to Dr. Foley and nurse practitioner Katie, and in the last six months the staff at Brookhave Hospice for their care and concern not only for Lucretia but also her family.Together they made Lucretia's last days very peaceful. Her funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5:00PM to 8PM on Tuesday.
