Armand L. Barrette, 79, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011 in his home. His loving wife of forty-one years, Virginia T. (Mouid) Barrette, predeceased him in April 1998. He is survived by his loving family, a daughter, Jo-Ann Clougherty and her husband William Clougherty, Jr. of Worcester and their children, Colleen and Michael; two sons, Edward Barrette of Wilton Manors, Florida and Armand J. Barrette and his wife Noel of Mechanicsburg, PA and their son, Nicholas. Armand is also survived by many members of his extended family including three sisters-in-law, Ruth Mouid, Teresa Kellerman and Marie Plante; many nieces and nephews. Born in Shrewsbury, son of Arthur L. and Cora (Goulet)Barrette, Armand graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade and served in the Civil Air Patrol. He has lived in Worcester most of his life. Armand served his nation proudly in the United States Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal with European Clasp and a Defense Service Medal. He worked as a Manager for New England Telephone for over twenty years, before retiring in 1989. Armand was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church and upon the suppression of that parish he became an active member of Holy Family (Saint Joseph) Church and the church choir. He was also a member of The Worcester Men of Song and the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), the Greendale Retired Men's Club and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed singing and researching genealogy. Relatives and friends are invited to join Armand's family for calling hours tonight (Monday) March 28, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 28, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
