Mary A. Paladino

Mary A. (Lopardo) Paladino, 97, of Worcester, died peacefully Wednesday March 23, 2011 in the Notre Dame Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. Her husband Frank Paladino died in 1971. Mary is survived by a son John R. Paladino and his wife Mary Kay of West Boylston, a daughter Ann M. Romano and her husband Carmen of Millbury, a brother Domenic Lopardo and his wife Elizabeth "Lisa" of West Boylston, a sister Rita Shelzi of Reading, and a sister in law Anita Lopardo of Worcester. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored; Lynne, Michele, Sheryl, Michael R. Michael C. and Jeffrey, Mark, Sabrina, Dylan, Michael, Fina Marie, Dante, and Emily, also many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers Michael and Louis Lopardo. Mary was born in Brienza, province of Potenza Italy daughter of the late Raffaele and Carmela (Santoro) Lopardo and came to the United States when she was 5 years old. She has lived in Worcester all her life and was a graduate of Commerce High School. Mary worked for the former D'amico's Boston Bread Bakery on Shrewsbury St. for over 30 years before it closed, and then worked at Scano's Bakery well into her 80's before she retired. She was a life member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church, and was also a member of the S.S. Madonna Addorlorata Ladies Biscegliese Society, Our Lady of Sorrows. She enjoyed baking and was an excellent seamstress. Her most precious times though were those spent with her family, especially the grand and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Mary's funeral will be held Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mullbery St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Flowers may be sent or Contributions made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church Restoration Fund 24 Mulberry St. Worcester, MA. 01605.
