Michael C. Petito, Sr., 83, of Worcester passed away peacefully, February 19th 2011 in the Lutheran Home after an illness. Michael was pre deceased by his wife Betty (Gonzalez) Petito, a son Vincent James Petito, and four sisters. He is survived by a daughter, Ellen Micol and her husband Laurence of Worcester; two sons Michael Petito Jr. and his wife Denise in Maine and James Petito of Waltham; a sister, Lena Cantanno on Long Island; three grandchildren, Adrienne, Eric and David; his former wife Joanne (Modafferi) Petito; many nieces and nephews. Michael was born in Brooklyn New York, the son of Charles and Philomena (Lafemina) Petito. He served in the U.S. Navy for a short time near the end of WWII. Michael worked many years at the Howe Press Division of Perkins School for the blind in Watertown. A Memorial Mass will be held Sunday, March 20 at 10:30a.m. in the Chapel of Notre Dame du Lac Assisted living at 555 Plantation Street, Worcester. A gathering will follow at the home of his daughter Ellen. The Petito family would like to thank all the staff at the Lutheran Healthcare Center for taking such wonderful care of their father.
