Joseph F. "Joe" Panarelli, Sr., 68, of Shrewsbury passed away Tuesday, March 1st 2011 in St Vincent Hospital after an illness. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Phyllis L. (Lodi) Panarelli; his three children, Joseph F. Panarelli, Jr. and his wife Maria of Worcester; Paul A. Panarelli and his wife Joanne, Jodi A. Couture and his wife John all of Shrewsbury; three brothers, Frank J. Panarelli of Shrewsbury, Alex J. Panarelli of Worcester and Carlo J. Panarelli of Dudley; nine grandchildren, Kaitlin, Paul Jr., Joseph, Taylor and Lucas Panarelli, Cody, Griffin, Chandler, and Delaney Couture; a brother in law, Walter Lodi. Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joe was born in Worcester a son of Cosmo J. "Pinky" and Grace A. (DiLeo) Panarelii and has lived in Shrewsbury all his life. Joe owned and operated Deluxe Homes a modular homes builder. He was also a restaurant owner. He owned several spots including Scuttlebutts in York Beach Maine, Papa Joes Italian Kitchen, Lakeside Lounge, Penguin Catering and Aram's Lounge all in Worcester. He was a member of St Anne's Church and the Men's Biscegliese Society. Joe loved all sports Hockey, Baseball, Football and Lacrosse were his favorites. He enjoyed fishing, travel, cooking and spending the summers in Wells, Maine and most recently Salisbury Beach. Most of all his family was his dedication and pride. They gave him the joy and comfort of Love. Family was precious to him. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Joe's family, Friday, March 4th from 4 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Saturday, March 5th from the funeral home with a Mass at 9:30 am in St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Nurse Association, 120 Thomas St. Worcester. The family of Joseph would like to thank the St Vincent Hospital Critical Care Unit and especially Dr. Robert Black and Nurse Steve Craven for the excellent care and compassion they gave to Joe in this difficult time.
