Alfred R. Morin, 88, of Worcester passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital after suffering a medical condition earlier. Al is survived by his wife and partner of 58 years Phyllis (Lelakis) Morin; his three devoted children, Alfred Morin, Jr. and his wife Lea, Michael Morin and his wife Michele, Cynthia Girardi and her husband Michael; five grandchildren, Bridgette Morin, Harrison and Hayden Morin, Michael and Zach Girardi; Two sisters, Alice Lareau and Doris Flynn; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A sister, Jean Zaido and a brother Richard Morin pre deceased him. He was born in Worcester his parents were the late, Romeo and Donalda (Bergeron) Morin; He graduated from Worcester Public Schools, entered the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving aboard a mine sweeper , the USS Cowie in the North Atlantic and Africa. He has lived here all his life. Al worked more than 40 years for the Mass Electric Company before retiring. Alfred was a member of Holy Family Church, and the Disabled American Veterans Association. Al was an avid golfer and at onetime was a member of Hillcrest Country Club and the Mass Electric Golf League. The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 23rd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:30 am in Holy Family Parish, St Joseph Church, 40 Hamilton St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, February 22nd from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
