Dennis M. Flynn, 64, of Oxford passed away peacefully Saturday, February 5th 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 43 years Carol A. (Maple) Flynn; three beloved sons, Dennis M. Flynn, Jr., and his wife Georgia of Worcester, Darryl S. Flynn and his wife Luz of Webster, Christopher D. Flynn and his wife Lauren of Maynard; a brother Daniel Flynn of Westminster; a sister, Carole Coakley of Worcester; five grandchildren; a great granddaughter; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A brother, Jeremiah Flynn Jr. and a sister, Joyce Flynn pre deceased him. Dennis was born in Worcester, a son of Jeremiah Flynn, Sr. and Frances (Haley) Flynn. He graduated from High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and has lived in Oxford many years. Dennis worked as an independent and professional general contractor for several cable companies before retiring due to illness. Dennis enjoyed watching local sports and traveling, but most of all enjoyed being a part of family gatherings, enjoying his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Dennis was adored by his entire family and many friends for his infectious personality and humor, loyalty and generosity. He will truly be missed by all who were touched by his presence. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the Flynn family Tuesday, February 8th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 9th at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Residence, c/o VNA of Central Mass, 120 Thomas St Worcester 01608 or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank all of the kind and compassionate professionals for the incredible care they gave to Dennis through out his treatment. Including the staff of the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester during the final weeks for their care and support they gave to us during this difficult time. You were all a blessing to us.
