Anthony J. Carriere, 87, of Auburn passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a period of failing health. Anthony is survived by his brother, John Carriere of Worcester, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded by a brother and a sister, William Carriere and Catherine Convery. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Michael and Gugliemina (Nardolillo) Carriere. He graduated from a Worcester High School, and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Spencer, where he resided for thirty-two years, before moving to Auburn in 2005. Anthony worked at Worcester State Hospital for many years in the maintenance shop, before he retired. He had served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during World War II, and was issued a Purple Heart for injuries suffered. He found great happiness in the beauty and serenity of lakes and oceans as he enjoyed his hobby, fishing. There are no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday, February 7th , at 12 Noon in the Chapel at the mausoleum at Saint John's Cemetery, Cambridge Street, Worcester, for prayers of committal.
