Harold Alford, 59, of Oxford, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011, in his home. He is survived by his loving family including a son, Kori H. Alford; two daughters, Katrina L. Alford and Shana M. Alford, all of Worcester. He also leaves his mother, Eldora (Brooken) Alford of Worcester; a brother, Robert J. Alford of Worcester; three sisters, Gloria Larkin of Worcester, Sandra Troy of Mount Lake Terrace, WA and Velma Jenkins of Worcester; three grandchildren, Jordan, Cheyenne and Dakota; along with many niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Larry in 2000, Carl in 1995 and Latrell Barnes in 2008. Harold was born in Worcester, son of the late Leroy Alford and graduated from North High School, later attending Quisigamond Community College and The College of The Holy Cross. Harold has been working as a collector for the Massachusetts Turnpike for nearly twenty years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, playing baseball and watching a multitude of sporting events. Harold enjoyed history, reading and keeping up with both local and national politics and current events. Calling hours for Harold will be held on Tuesday morning, February 8, from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon, with a Funeral Service at 12 Noon all occurring in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
