Rose M. (Mazzamurro) Monroe, 80 of Worcester passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 22nd in her home. Rose was born, February 2, 1930 in Worcester, a daughter of Nicola and Antonetta (Izzi) Mazzamurro and has lived here all her life. Rose's husband Joseph Monroe passed away in 1995. She is survived by two brothers, Pasquale "Patsy" and Nicholas Mazzamurro and his wife Leona all of Worcester; two sisters, Anna Saucier and her husband Bernard of Worcester and Frances Simone and her husband Michael of Shrewsbury; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including her niece Margaret Campbell who cared for her. A sister, Carmella Olivieri passed away in 1995 along with her husband John who passed away in 2002. Rose worked more than 25 years for St Vincent Hospital in the cafeteria and as a cashier before retiring. She also loved her work as a Greeter at The Spa at Nicholas Michaels. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, and Golden Years Organization, and Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons of Italy in America. Rose loved to crochet, bake, cook, and play Bingo. Her family and friends were a big part of her life. She cherished the times she could be with them and her friends at gatherings, bus trips to the Wonder of it all and just sitting together. Friends and Relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, January 24th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, January 25th from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
