Rose M. (DeCaro) Morano, 98, of Worcester passed away Tuesday, January 11th 2011 in Life Care Center of Auburn with her family at her side. Rose's husband, Rocco J. Morano passed away in June 1955. She is survived by two sons, Donald V. Morano of Chicago and Rocco J. Morano, Jr. and his wife Carla of Auburn; three sisters, Santa Simone of Shrewsbury, Dorothy Morano and Ruth Bourdeau both of Worcester; six grandchildren Kenneth, Stacey and Rocco Morano, Jayson, Justin and Jonathan Ojerholm; three great grandchildren, Sophia, Lilah Rose and Kaitlyn; many nieces and nephews. Rose is predeceased by two sons, C. Kenneth and Joseph Morano; four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Charles and Samuel DeCaro; and a sister, Helen Forand. Rose was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Cosimo and Virginia (Cozzolino) DeCaro and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School and attended Worcester State College where she was a founding member of the Elder Advocates Group. Rose worked as a senior clerk for the City of Worcester Registrar of Voters for 25 years before retiring in 1988. She then volunteered at both Worcester and Auburn Public Schools and served on the Board of Directors for the Friendly House. She was member of St. Stephen's Church and an active member of the Rose Club. Rose cherished her ability to help others and her family was her life; she cherished them and provided inspiration, guidance and unconditional love. Rose's funeral will be held Saturday, January 15th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10am in Saint Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, January 14th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
