Alba R. DeStefano, 93, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday January 5, 2011 in the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center with her loved ones around her. Alba is survived by a nephew, Frank T. DeStefano of Mansfield, MA. And Jean M. Bowker of Holden, and several grandnephews and grandnieces. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters; Michael, Rose, Antonio, Ralph, Theresa, Frances and Diana. Alba was born in East Boston on April 14, 1917 daughter of the late Augostino and Generosa (Maffei) DeStefano and lived in West Roxbury most of her life before coming to Worcester in 2006. Alba was a graduate of West Roxbury High School, and worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years at the Former Shamut Bank in Boston before she retired in 1979. Alba enjoyed traveling but most of all she enjoyed life and her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of the Notre Dame Du Lac Assisted Living, and Notre Dame Long Term Care Center for their kindness and compassion shown to Alba and her family during her stay there. Alba's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 1:30pm in the Chapel of the Notre Dame Du Lac 555 Plantation St. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held from 12 noon to 1:00pm prior to the funeral Mass.
