Richard M. Bayrouty, 64, of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, December 29th 2010 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Richard is survived by his wife and soul mate of over 30 years, Donna (Samia) Bayrouty; His devoted children, Zachary , Nicholas and Demetri all of Worcester. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Bayrouty) Nimer and her husband Archdeacon David Nimer of Maimi. His parents were the late Fred and Ann (Mitchell) Bayrouty. He graduated from Classical High School and Fitchburg State University, where he earned a masters degree in Education. Of the many vocations Richard held, his true love was music. He played the oud (Middle Eastern guitar) and sang in the world-renowned Fred Elias Ensemble, the most highly regarded Middle Eastern band of its time in the United States. He also played bass for the Ken Jordan Quartet, as well as countless weddings and parties. In addition to his music, Richard was a full-time teacher at Leicester High School and Leicester Junior High School for more than 30 years, where he taught wood shop and power mechanics until his retirement in 2005. He also owned and operated a small business RNZ Contracting. In the winter, Richard plowed commercial lots and driveways, helping shut-ins and low-income individuals. He was also the landlord of a six-family apartment building. He was a devoted member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, where he'd served on the parish council and sang faithfully in the choir. He enjoyed exercising and swimming at Worcester Fitness on Grove St., for over 30 years. He was an avid reader, cook, and music connoisseur who loved to entertain guests and be the life of the party. To say he will be missed would be an understatement. Richard had a reputation for being the most loyal, compassionate and selfless individual in all circles. In this spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation St Worcester or St. George Orthodox Cathedral endowment fund, 30 Anna St. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Sunday, January 2nd from 4 pm to 7 pm and Monday, January 3rd from 10:00 am to 10:45 am in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 am.
