Anthony R. "Tony" Cataldo, III, 42 of Sutton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 25, 2010 from a heart attack. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-two years, Denise (Bergeron) Cataldo; a son, Steven A. Cataldo and a daughter, Olivia C. Cataldo, all of Sutton; his mother, Mary Ann (Colorio) Cataldo and her fiancé Lawrence Cedrone of Hopedale; his grandmother, Cecile Florence Cataldo of Auburn; a brother, Lawrence Cedrone, Jr. of Mendon; four sisters, Mary Ann Cataldo-Bonollo of Hopedale, Lisa Whitley of Dudley, Cheryl Leider of Marblehead and Erica Zamarano of Melbourne, Florida. He also leaves his very dear friends Dan and Joan Moroney. Tony loved children and had a soft spot in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, and children of friends who considered him their own uncle, especially Adam and Eme Moroney. Tony was born in Worcester, son of the late Anthony R. Cataldo, Jr.; he grew up in Worcester and Framingham and graduated from Keefe Technical High School in Framingham. He moved to Sutton in 1997. Tony was president and owner of Accord Building Systems in Sutton, a steel building construction company, and also owned Cataldo Plastering for many years. He was affectionately known as the "man of steel" due not only to his business, but to his larger-than-life personality. His presence and personality lit-up any room he entered. Business acquaintances became close friends, friends became close family, and countless people looked to Tony as a father figure from his unique way of combining, guidance, tough love,' and true care and compassion. Over the years, he became a true staple of the Sutton/Millbury community, lending his strength and skills wherever he could to help. He was a regular member of the Saturday lunch crowd and the summer haying crews in town. Friends, family, and children were the light of his life. He hosted spaghetti suppers at his home for dozens every Friday night for years because of the joy and happiness it brought to him and others. Tony loved the peace and serenity of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler. He was a member of Saint Mark's Church in Sutton, as well as Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Worcester. Calling hours for Tony will be held on Thursday, December 30, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 31, at 10 a.m. in Saint Mark's Church, 356 Boston Road, Sutton, please go directly to church on Friday morning.
