Eli R. Aramony, of Worcester passed away Monday December 27th 2010 in the UmassMemorial Healthcare-Belmont Campus with family at his side. Eli is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor (Nojeim) Aramony; the devoted children, Russell E. and John S. Aramony both of Worcester and Joan A. Bernert and her husband Michael in New Hampshire; two grandchildren whom he adored, Michael and Sarah Bernert; a brother William Aramony in Alexandria Virginia; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A brother, Fred Aramony and two sisters, Sally Abodeely and Eleanor Aboud all pre deceased him. Eli was born in Worcester his parents were the late Rusheed and Nazley (Farrah) Aramony. He graduated from North High, and Northeastern University. He earned two degree's Cum Laude in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering and was a licensed real-estate broker. Eli served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Eli began his career as a sales representative for Worcester Gas Light Company, then as Marketing Manager for New England Gas and Electric, coordinating and overseeing various facets of marketing, sales promotion, training, energy management, conservation and consumer relations. He was a member of a St George Orthodox Cathedral, the American Bridge Association, the Worcester Lodge of Masons, Greendale Retired Men's club and a lifetime member of the Central YMCA . Eli enjoyed exercising. He was an avid bridge player and reader. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, December 29th from 5 pm to 8 pm and Thursday, December 30th from 10:00 am to 10:45 am in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St George Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 30 Anna St. Worcester.
