Raymond J. Brunelle Sr., 82 of Worcester, died peacefully Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by his devoted family. His wife of fifty years, Ida M. (Martello) Brunelle, passed away in July 2000. He is survived by his two sons, Raymond Brunelle Jr. and his wife Nancy of Worcester and David Brunelle and his wife Susan of Worcester; a brother, Paul J. Brunelle and his wife Christine of Worcester; two grandchildren, Christopher and Kelsey Brunelle, his In-laws; Anthony & Judy Martello and Albert and Ann Candela and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by five brothers, Francis, Roland, Arthur, Phillip and Edward Brunelle and two sisters, Mary Studley and Catherine Brunelle. Raymond was born in Worcester, son of the late Arthur M. and Catherine C. (Duggan) Brunelle and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Commerce High School. He served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during the Korean War. Mr. Brunelle worked as a custodian for the Worcester public schools, retiring in 1992. He served as vice president of his union. He had previously worked as a milk man for the Whiting Co. He enjoyed golfing with his friends at Green Hill golf course and playing bingo at the OTC. He also enjoyed going to Foxwoods every Wednesday morning. Raymond's funeral will be held Tuesday, December 28th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Occupational Training Center, 81 Hope Ave., Worcester, MA 01603.
