Irene McBride

Irene "Auntie I" (Cozzolino) McBride, 75 of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 21st in her home with her beloved family by her side. Irene was born in Worcester, May 29th 1935, a daughter of Luigi J. Cozzolino and Rose M. (DiGiorno) Cozzolino. She graduated from Worcester public schools and has lived here all her life. Irene's husband William J. McBride passed away in 1989. She is survived by her five devoted daughters, Patricia Dillon and Michelle Parmenter and her husband Michael all of Oxford, Pamela Jacobson and her husband Gary of Dudley, Diane McBride of Worcester, and Irene Polito and her husband Kenneth of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Louis J. Cozzolino and His wife Faye, Raymond P. Cozzolino, all of Worcester; a sister, Patricia A. Hickey and her husband Fran of Auburn; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Two brothers, Alfred J and Joseph Cozzolino and a sister, Ann D. Reynolds all pre deceased her. Irene worked many years as a Laboratory Technician for the University of Massachusetts Medical center before retiring. Irene was a member and active festival volunteer of Our Lady of Loreto Church. She was an avid bowler and member of the Wednesday Morning bowling league at Colonial Bowl. Irene enjoyed her frequent trips to twin river casino, Cruises and vacations especially in Aruba. Irene was devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She cherished each and every moment she could spend with her entire family. Irene had a great sense of humor that would light up any room and make people feel at ease. Her grandchildren were her shining star and life's inspiration. Irene's funeral will be held Friday, December 24th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family December 23rd from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
