Joanne M. Perez

Joanne M. "Joan" (O'Loughlin) Perez, 71 of Worcester formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 in UMASS Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Joan's husband of 35 years, Luis Perez passed away in 1999. She is survived by three sons, ,John Guzman of Revere; Joseph Guzman and his wife Margaret of Leicester and Thomas Guzman and his wife Rose of Worcester; a daughter, Annie Guzman of Tampa, FL; a brother, Frank Weigert of Worcester; twelve grandchildren, Angelo, John Jr., Anthony, Joseph, Maria, Eric, Alvaro, Michael, Jessica, Tommy Jr., Nick and Cassandra; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She has a daughter, Patricia Guzman, a sister Patricia Guzman and a grandson, Anthony all who predeceased her. Joan was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anastasia (Anne) O'Loughlin. She later moved to Worcester in 1971 and has been here ever since. She worked as a Nurses Aid for Lincoln Nursing Home and the Jewish Healthcare Center for 38 years before retiring in 1999. Joan was a member of St. Peter's Church. She loved helping others and was a people person. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Services for Joan will be held on Friday, December 17th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 12 noon in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held from 10 am to 11:30 am prior to the Mass. Flowers are welcome.
