Mary Morone

Mary (Laudone) Morone, 99, of Worcester passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27th with family by her side. Mary was born October 21, 1911, in Norwich, Conn., one of eight children of Frank and Hortensa (Vuono) Laudone. She graduated from Norwich High School, and worked as a manager of a bakery in Norwich. She then met and married her husband James and they moved to Worcester in 1933. She has lived here ever since. Mary's husband and love of more than 63 years, James Morone passed away in July of 1996. She is survived by her two devoted children, James Morone and his wife Shirley of Falmouth, and Beverly A. Quinn of Worcester; five adoring grandchildren, Thomas P. Quinn and his wife Eileen of Paxton, James Quinn and his wife Elizabeth of Venice, FL., Susan LaForest and her husband Scott of Boxboro, James Morone and his wife Carolyn of Ashland, Jennifer Norcella and her husband Salvatore of Mashpee; nine cherished great grandchildren; a sister Patricia Kelly in Conn; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Five brothers, Albert, Angelo, John, Frank and Dominic Laudone and a sister, Anne Laudone all pre deceased her. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and a many year volunteer at its Bingo and annual Italian festival. She was also a member of the Worcester Lodge #168, Order Sons of Italy in America. Mary loved crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and reading. But, Mary's life revolved around family. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The inspiration and joy of her life was the time she could spend with them. She will be sorely missed. Mary's funeral will be held Tuesday, November 30th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday November 30th from 9am to 10 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Millbury Healthcare Activities fund, Millbury Ave, Millbury. Mary's family would like to thank the skilled nursing staff at Millbury Healthcare Center for the care, compassion and support they gave to Mary & her family during this difficult time.
