Vito A. Troiano

Vito A. Troiano, 75, of Worcester, died peacefully Friday, November 26, 2010 in Millbury Healthcare Center after a period of failing health. Vito was the son of the late John Troiano, and was born in Worcester on August 3, 1935. He graduated from commerce High School and later attended Holy Cross College. During the Korean War, Vito served our country in the United States Army. Mr. Troiano worked for the Worcester Department of Public Works for over twenty years, before he retired. He had previously been a truck driver, working for M&M Association. He was the past Vice President for Teamsters Local 495. In his earlier years, Vito owned and raced his own horses. One of his last races was the Sunshine Race in Dade City Florida. Throughout his life he enjoyed skiing, motorcycling riding, hunting, fishing and bowling. Vito is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of fifty-four years, Kathryn (Brosnahan) Troiano, a daughter, Margaret Cioffi of Collingswood, NJ; his mother, Theresa D. (Falco) Troiano of FL;two sisters, Margaret Norgquist of Worcester and Louise M. Ricker of Boynton Beach, FL and Pocasset, MA; four grandchildren, Heather Pellegrino of NJ, Shyla Pellegrino of FL, Breanna Pellegrino of FL and Jacob Cioffi of NJ; five great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A son, John J. Troiano predeceases him. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 28th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 29th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Family request that flowers be omitted.
