Joseph P. Dacri, Jr, 84, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 in Saint Vincent Hospital. Joe is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Louise A. (Swenson) Dacri. Joe is also survived by their children; Joseph Dacri III and his wife Donna of Palm Bay, Florida, Deborah A. Slavinskas and her husband Daniel of Worcester, Richard J. Dacri and his wife Elizabeth of Holden and Robert J. Dacri and his wife Judith of Holden; a sister, Louise Paciello of Worcester; eight adored grandchildren, Amy Whittemore and her husband James, Beth, Jonathan and Christopher Slavinskas all of Worcester, Bryana and Kelsey Dacri of Holden, Alyssa Dacri of Palm Bay, Florida and Julia M. Dacri of Holden; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Nancy Agbay and a brother, Michael Dacri. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Giuseppe and Julia (Algieri) Dacri, he graduated from North High School and New England School of Accounting, and was a life-long resident of Worcester. Joe owned and operated Rice Square Laundromat and Cleaners, he also worked as General Manager for Abdow Scrap Iron Company, and for many years was Business Manager and Administrator for the former Worcester County Hospital. Mr. Dacri had also worked as Vice President of Administration for Robert Linkletter Inc. and was a Notary Public, Licensed Real Estate Broker and part-time sales representative for Lorillard Tobacco Company. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. His memberships and social activities included The Knight of Columbus Pope John Council where he was a 3rd Degree Knight, the Syrian-American Club, Brown Square Civic Club, The Bernardi Square Social Club and was a founding member of the "Wake of The Week Club". He enjoyed playing tennis, candlepin bowling, softball and ballroom dancing. He was a voracious poker player and was a regular at Foxwood Casino since it's opening. Joe found pleasure helping others, especially with his last act of kindness by being a donor to New England Organ Bank. He made humor and laughter a major part of his life. He enjoyed cooking and gatherings of family and friends at holidays and special occasions; and although he was an active person both civically and socially, he found most joy and love when he was with his family and friends. The Funeral for Joseph will be on Wednesday, November 17, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Calling hours will be held tonight, Tuesday, November 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
