Paul A. Kouri, 68 of Worcester, passed away Thursday November 4th 2010 in the St. Vincent Hospital. Paul was born in Worcester, March 20th 1942, the son of the late Alex and Sadie (Stephan) Kouri; He graduated from Worcester public schools, and earned an associate's degree from Worcester Junior College. He has lived here all his life. Paul is survived by his four children; Lyza Kouri of Gainesville Florida, Cori Marshall-Pelayo of Pasadena California, Joshua Kouri of Marston Mills and Thomas Boule of Ft Lauderdale Florida; three grandchildren; his fiancée Deirdre Haddad; a brother, Edmund Kouri of Pembroke Pines Florida; three sisters, Violet Massad of Worcester, Glay Abdow of Longmeadow Ma and Lorraine Lian of Shrewsbury; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A sister, Lillian Courey and a brother William Kouri pre deceased him. Paul worked in the retail business many years. He owned A.M. Kouri Company in Webster before retiring. Paul co-found and operated several other businesses in Worcester including the Hip Bone, The Living Earth and the Alternative (a designer clothes store for women) located in the Worcester Galleria. Paul later established and operated the High Sobriety, an alcohol free night club on Shrewsbury St. He was also a counselor and program director for the AIDS Project Worcester for several years . He also actively assisted many people through substance abuse and recovery programs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6th at 10:00 am in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, November 5th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. and from 9:15 to 9:45 am Saturday in St George Orthodox Cathedral prior to the service.
