Emanuele Manny Catino

Emanuele "Manny" Catino, 89, of Worcester passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 28th 2010. Emanuele is survived by his wife Mary (Mazzilli) Catino; his two devoted children, Rose Camarra and her husband Robert, and Domenic Catino all of Worcester; Three cherished granddaughters, Jennifer Salyers and her husband Scott of Burbank, California, Jillian Valentine and her husband Tom of Worcester, Julie Eggers and her husband Jay of Portsmouth, RI; five great grandchildren, Isabella, Siena, Grace, Abigail, and Brayden; a sister, Yolanda Esposito and her husband Victorio; a brother, Sergio Molinari and his wife Angela all of Milan, Italy; many nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, Maurice and Domenico Catino and two sisters, Josephine Catino and Aida Molinari all pre deceased him. Manny was born in Piedmont, West Virginia, a son of the late Domenico and Rose (Colonna) Catino, Molinari. He joined the U.S. Army to serve his country during World War II , in North Africa, Sicily and Italy and has lived in Worcester most of his life. He owned and operated Emanuele's Barber Shop on Shrewsbury St more than 60 years before retiring in 2000. Manny was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the Eastside Post 201, the Men's Biscegliese Club, and the Post #3 Italian American VFW Post. Manny loved to fish, play cards and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankee's. He will always be remembered for the way he cared for his customers, his family whom he cherished, his great story telling and his infectious laugh. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, November 1st from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Tuesday, November 2nd from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Hospice, 1183 Main Street Worcester, 01603 or the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts 128 Providence St # 5, Worcester, MA 01604-5432
