Frank A. Vessella, Jr. 90, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in UMASS Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene M. (Collette) Vessella. He is also survived by a son, Mark S. Vessella and his wife Jaqueline of Dudley; two daughters, Candace Vessella and her husband Adrian Nakayama of Lewes, DE and Kathy L. Campbell and her husband Stephen of Charlton; three grandsons, John Campbell, Matt and Zachary Vessella; two sisters, Phyllis Rock of Worcester and Ann Gubatosi of Hingham. He is predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Anthony and John Vessella; three sisters, Julia DeMaio, Josephine Corkum and Carmella Trumbell. Frank was born in Worcester, a son of Frank A. and Maria (DeVia) Vessella. He entered into the United States Army where he served his country during World War II. He also worked as a Truck Driver for M & M Transportation for ten years, ABC Trucking and many others before retiring in 1985. Frank was a member of Saint Anne's Church in Shrewsbury, the Teamsters Local 170 Union and the Teamsters Retiree's Local 170 Union. He loved to play bingo, go to the casino and most off all spending time with his grandsons. Services for Frank will be held on Wednesday, October 27th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 26th from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In honor of Frank, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers you may donate to a charity of your choice.
