Shrewsbury- Alfredo Lopriore, 81, of Shrewsbury, died on Sunday, October 10, 2010, after being stricken ill at his son's home in Eastham, MA. His beloved wife of 56 years, Carol (Smith) Lopriore passed away on August 5, 2010. He is survived by his seven children; a daughter, Cheryl D. Lopriore and her husband Thomas Alarie, of Shrewsbury, MA; six sons, Alan Lopriore and his wife Cheryl A., Glen Lopriore and his wife Kristin of Leicester, MA; Gary Lopriore of Eastham, MA, Wayne Lopriore and his wife Laura, Tod Lopriore and his fiancé Sandra Chamberlain and Perry Lopriore and his wife Dorothy of Shrewsbury, MA. He was a wonderful, loving Papa to his fifteen grandchildren, Nathan, Christina, Kyle, Marissa, Nicole, Katelyn, Justin, Zachary, David, Michael, Olivia, Dominic, Mary, Kristopher and Rachel; and two great grandchildren, Logan and Ivy. Alfred was born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Michael and Maria (Pescara) Lopriore. He is survived by three sisters; Florence Lorusso of Shrewsbury, MA; Gloria Trudel of Boylston, MA; Lenore Makowiecki of Auburn, MA and one brother, John Lopriore of Grafton, MA. He was predeceased by three brothers, William, Mario and George Lopriore and two sisters, Camilla Terry and Josephine Sharron. Al was a union truck driver for most of his life. In his younger years he also owned a window installation business. He had a very gentle and loving presence and entertained us all with his storytelling and recitation of jingles from old commercials and songs. He was a fabulous baker and his apple squares were always in demand. Al loved to garden, growing flower and vegetable plants from seed and sharing his wonderful plants with his family and friends. He and his wife enjoyed spending their time with their very large family. Their home was always open and full of warmth, kindness and delicious food. Al was a sweet man, whose heart had no limits! He loved life and those near and dear to him were the benefactors of his deep kindness. Al loved to go to the casinos with his wife, watch sports and follow the stock market. He will always be remembered for his passion for "doughnuts". Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Mercadante Funeral Home, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA. The funeral will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 from the funeral home at 10 a.m. a period of visitation will be held from 9:00am to 10:am Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury, MA.
