Arthur P. Gazal, 80, of Worcester, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 after a brief illness. Arthur was born May 22nd 1930 in Worcester, a son of Shaker and Amelia (Aboody) Gazal. At a young age, Arthur began to work in his father's business, Shaker's Supermarket on Hamilton Street eventually owning and operating it with his family more than 40 years. After retirement, Arthur took a position as a Meat Cutter for the former Big D Supermarkets for the next 20 years. During this time he met and married his devoted wife of 60 years, Violet E. "Vi" (Wenho) Gazal. Together they raised their family and lived in the same neighborhood all their life. Besides his wife, Arthur is survived by two children, Arthur S. Gazal and his wife Linda Ricciardi-Gazal, and Deborah Silva; two sisters, his twin, Mary Fayard and Effie D'Errico all of Worcester; six adoring grandchildren, Kimberly Gazal and her companion Wayne Barry, Sheila Ferraiuolo and her husband Ron, Steven Ricciardi, Nathan Silva and his wife Lyndsey, Amber Silva and Ariel Silva; two great grandchildren, Kyle and Annabella; many nieces, nephews and friends. Three sisters, Juliette "Julie" Desimone, Florence Nasif and Ruth Boffoli all pre deceased him. Arthur was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Perpetual help and the Syrian-American Club. Most importantly Arthur devoted his life to family. He cherished the times he could spend with them and the family gatherings when they were all together. His inspiration in life was his family and their well being. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Sunday, October 3rd from 3 pm to 6 pm and Monday, October 4th from 9 am to 9:45 am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton St. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 4th at 10:00 am in the church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton St or the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston.
