Edith (Felice) Romano, 89, of Shrewsbury passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in Knollwood Nursing Center. Edith's husband of 45 years, John A. Romano, Sr. passed away in 1986. She is survived by two sons, John A. Romano, Jr. and his wife Roxanne and Norman Romano and his wife Kristine, all of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Carole Romano of Worcester and Linda Lindquist and her husband Dwight of York Beach, ME; a sister, Dolores Seligman of Shokan, NY; seven beloved grandchildren, Lindy, Matthew, Christopher, Felicia, Ryan, Evan and Gregory; two great granddaughters, Sophia and Gillian and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Louis Felice, and four sisters, Stella Lavorante, Lena Collaro, Anne O'Brien and Phyllis Carlson. Edith was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Amido and Agnes (Finnochi) Felice. Edith was a licensed real estate broker and worked for her husband's law firm, Romano Law Offices as a tax preparer for 30 years. Edith was a member of Saint Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. She was an avid golfer who could not have been prouder of achieving a "Hole in One." She was a member of the Worcester County Women's Golf League and the Massachusetts Women's Golf Association. She was also the President of the Rose Club and a member of the Cavendish Club. Edith traveled extensively, visiting places such as China and Japan. She loved nature, playing bridge, visiting her second home in Centerville on Cape Cod and most of all spending time with her family. She was vibrant, loved to be active and was loved by many. The funeral for Edith will be held on Friday, September 17, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Friday, September 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The American Heart Association, West Springfield Region, 54 Wayside, West Springfield, MA, 01089.
